How to use the MindBodySeries Weight Wellness Program
These audio programs are tools if you use them the right way.
You can listen to them once, memorize the principles and exercises, and then go off and apply them in your life. That’s a good start, but there’s a more effective way.
First, it’s important to understand that the programs work by guiding you in training your brain to produce the results you want. It is your mental habits that cause you to overeat. It is your mental habits that cause you to avoid exercise. These programs will guide you in training your brain to have a new way of thinking around eating and exercising.
So, you can listen once, then go off on your own and apply it from what you remember, or you can use the programs like you would use a tool.
Training your brain in these new ways of thinking requires practicing the new ways of thinking on a regular basis. The same way you would get good at playing a musical instrument or a sport, you get good at training your brain in the new way of thinking – through practice.
So, find a time of day that you can listen to the programs. Many people find that it’s most convenient to put on earbuds and listen when they lay down to sleep at night. Whatever works for you, take the time to practice daily.
The “MindBodySeries Weight Wellness Program” is an excellent companion to any other weight loss program, because it helps you with the mental aspect of weight loss and weight wellness.
FOR BEST RESULTS
1. Begin by listening to the “Imagery for Weight Loss” program once per day for the first 30 days to allow time for the new thinking you are learning to become habits. This program will guide you through imagery exercises that “program” your brain to enjoy and crave healthy eating and exercise habits!
2. Listen to “Imagery for Relaxation” to learn how to clinically relax, which reduces the stress hormone “cortisol”. Too much cortisol PREVENTS weight-loss, no matter how well you eat or how much you exercise! Stress is the #1 reason people don’t succeed at weight loss. Use the Relaxation mental exercises whenever you are feeling stressed or anxious.
3. While you are doing your “mental work”, begin exercising. You may have your own exercise program – that is absolutely fine. If not, or if you want to mix it up, use the MindBodySeries Imagery for Exercise Program. It includes a stretching sequence as well as an exercise sequence. The exercise sequence can be used at any fitness level. It is equally effective for someone who hasn’t exercised before because the instructions can be easily adapted to any fitness level.
